Calgary Chamber announces 2025 AGM award winners

Calgary, June 11, 2025– We are proud to celebrate the recipients of the Calgary Chamber’s 2025 AGM Awards. Our growth and impact as a Chamber are made possible by the dedication of our business community, members and volunteers. Their ongoing support shapes Calgary’s business landscape and this is our moment to recognize and thank them for their meaningful contributions.

These are leaders who have helped advance the Chamber’s vision of a thriving, inclusive economy that benefits all Calgarians.”

Calgary Chamber of Commerce Sherrold Moore Award: Dennis Agbegha

The Sherrold Moore Award recognizes a long-standing member whose character and contributions reflect the values of community, volunteerism and humble dedication exemplified by Sherrold Moore.


Dennis Agbegha is the Regional Manager of Inclusive Entrepreneurship for the Prairies at BDC, where he plays a key role in supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs and advancing inclusive economic growth. Since joining BDC in 2021 as a Commercial Accounts Manager, Dennis has leveraged his diverse background, from geoscience roles at Shell and ExxonMobil in Nigeria to senior banking positions at ATB to bring a unique perspective to entrepreneurship and community development. Known for his bold energy and people-first leadership style, Dennis is a connector at heart, often found volunteering or supporting local initiatives that uplift others. His steady commitment to community, paired with a genuine, relationship-driven approach exemplifies the values behind the Sherrold Moore Award.

Calgary Chamber of Commerce Ian S. Anderson Award: Cam Baker

The Ian Anderson Award honours a standout leader who plays a key role in shaping the Chamber’s voice through active engagement in policy, championing advocacy efforts on behalf of the business community and driving forward the issues that matter most to our members.


Cam Baker is the Senior Director of Government and Industry Affairs for Canada at Nutrien, where he leads engagement with key stakeholders across the country. Born and raised on a mixed cattle and grain farm in Saskatchewan, Cam’s early career took him to the oilfields of eastern Alberta before earning a degree in Political Science from the University of Saskatchewan. He went on to spend over 15 years in politics, managing municipal and provincial election campaigns and serving as Chief of Staff to Saskatchewan’s Ministers of Energy and Resources, Economy and Environment. In 2015, he joined PotashCorp’s Government Relations team, later transitioning to Nutrien following its merger with Agrium. Cam has been an active member of the Calgary Chamber’s Government Relations Committee since 2020. His deep policy expertise and steady leadership continue to help advance the priorities of Calgary’s business community, reflecting the spirit of the Ian Anderson Award.

Calgary Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year Award: Lois Mitchell

The Calgary Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has generously contributed their time and expertise to support the Chamber’s mission, made a meaningful impact in the community and inspired others through their dedication and leadership.


The Honourable Lois Mitchell is a distinguished leader, entrepreneur and lifelong community volunteer. She served as Alberta’s 18th Lieutenant Governor from 2015 to 2020, prioritizing history education and founding the History and Heroes Foundation, where she now serves as Chair.


Currently, she is President of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, Co-Chair of the Global Business Forum, Chair of the Banff International Research Station (BIRS) and a board member of the Canadian Paralympic Foundation. A past Board Chair of the Calgary Chamber, she has also served on the boards of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, UBS Bank (Canada) and Mitacs.


Before her vice-regal role, she was an entrepreneur and senior partner in leadership development and contributed to a wide range of community initiatives in sport, education and the arts. Together with her late husband Doug, she has supported Canadian athletes through the U SPORTS Mitchell Family Athletic Awards and the U SPORTS Alumni of the Year Awards.


Her many honours include being named a Dame of Justice of the Order of St. John, a member of the Alberta Order of Excellence and a Member of the Order of Canada. In 2024, she received an Honourary Doctor of Laws from Mount Royal University, recognizing her lasting impact on the community and country.
