Get ready for Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) this October with this member-exclusive workshop designed to help businesses take proactive steps toward workplace inclusion.

Featuring a presentation from the Alberta Employment First Network (AEFN), this session will equip employers with the knowledge and resources to support inclusive hiring and workplace accessibility.

What you’ll learn:
1. What is DEAM, and who is it for?
2. How can employers get involved?
3. Why is it important for DEAM to be a provincial initiative?
4. Resources for DEAM

This workshop is your opportunity to engage with experts from the Alberta Employment First Network, connect with fellow Chamber members and gain actionable strategies to make a difference in your workplace.

Registered event attendees may cancel their tickets:

1. 72 hours in advance of an event for paid tickets. Please note: Refunds will be processed to the original form of payment and may take 5-10 business days to appear on your statement.

2. 24 hours in advance of an event for member event credits. Please note: Membership credits will be refunded directly back into your membership account within 24 hours.

Angela Flaman

Director | Alberta First Employment Network

Angela is the Director of the Alberta Employment First Network (AEFN).  Has over 25 years of experience working with a variety of local and provincial organizations in developing frameworks, training, policies and strategies to enhance equitable communication access and break down barriers in daily life for people who have a disability.  Angela is an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter and a Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP™). 

She’s honoured to work alongside the pan-disability community, connecting with employers and employment Service Providers to deepen conversations and connections about disability inclusion that help transform workplaces, and make them inclusive and accessible for Albertans who have a disability. 

She’s passionate about collaborative work that builds sustainable strategies for economic and social change and impact by co-creating innovative opportunities and solutions.

Mariebelle Sawma

Marketing and Communications Lead | Alberta Employment First Network

Mariebelle is a marketer, writer and a creative. Through her experience working in numerous front line positions and in marketing roles, she has found her footing in using her marketing skills to advocate for marginalized communities through her role at Alberta Employment First Network as Marketing and Communications Lead.

Mariebelle speaks 3 languages, French, English and Arabic and is an avid reader. In her free time, she writes poetry, attends protests and never misses an indie film screening. Mariebelle holds a B.A. in English from Mount Royal University.
