Truth & Reconciliation Pillar Partner

Advancing economic reconciliation by investing in Indigenous economic inclusion.

Our partnership with Keyera reflects a shared commitment to removing barriers and investing in indigenous business success

The Calgary Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome Keyera as our Truth and Reconciliation Pillar Partner. This transformative and purpose-driven partnership reflects a shared commitment to building an inclusive economy by supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs and professionals and creating meaningful opportunities for growth, collaboration and leadership. Through events, workshops and thought leadership, and by working with entrepreneurs to address systemic barriers, the Chamber and Keyera are partnering to support Indigenous business owners and entrepreneurs within and around the Treaty 7 region and beyond.

Through this partnership, Keyera will also sponsor 25 Chamber memberships for Indigenous entrepreneurs, helping eliminate cost-related barriers to Calgary’s largest business network. These memberships offer networking opportunities, advocacy support, business resources and peer-to-peer connections that can drive long-term success.

Alongside this partnership, the Calgary Chamber shares our Truth and Economic Reconciliation Framework, developed alongside our Indigenous Advisory Circle, comprised of over 25 local Indigenous community leaders, which will guide our journey as an organization. This partnership also advances the Chamber’s broader commitment to responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action 92, which calls on the corporate sector to adopt reconciliation as part of their operations and core values.

Our Truth and Economic Reconciliation Framework

To guide our ongoing work, the Calgary Chamber, in partnership with our Indigenous Advisory Circle, comprised of over 25 Elders, entrepreneurs and community leaders, has developed a Truth and Economic Reconciliation Framework.

We humbly thank the Elders, Indigenous entrepreneurs and professionals, including through our Indigenous Advisory Circle, who informed our framework over the last year and understand the Chamber’s role in addressing ongoing systemic challenges and advancing reconciliation.

The framework is grounded in truth and learning, and is focused on two key priorities:

  1. Supporting Indigenous people and communities by reducing barriers to the Chamber and other key business resources for Indigenous entrepreneurs.
  2. Ensuring the perspectives and wishes of Indigenous people and communities are fairly represented on key government policies by leveraging our platform to amplify Indigenous voices and advocate for an inclusive economy.

Thought Leadership

The Chamber is committed to highlighting and addressing the ongoing systemic barriers facing Indigenous entrepreneurs and professionals, including through public policy. We also highlight the importance of key events, notable dates and opportunities for bridge building between the business community and Indigenous community members.
